Summary:
Now in this alternate reality, there are two types of people: The Sane and the Insanity.
The Insanity’s are people like everyone but they’re mentally imbalanced and most have a disorder that has shunned them from the rest of the Sane world. So in order to keep the chaos of the world in order, they have made special facilities for the crazy people called ‘Cares’. Most Insanity individuals have a characteristic that sets them from other people, the color of their eyes are pure white with the single black pupil. Every single person of the Insanity has had the ‘crazy eyes’, only few people have had sane eyes yet had a dysfunction. In these cares, they are still allowed to be humans but extreme cases are held on a different side than the average crazy. Scientists and doctors are always trying to figure out the mysteries of crazy eyes and how there are an abnormal amount of insane people on earth!

A great uproar came to the birth of Mina Quintet. Born of two insane people of the ‘Hillshire Care’, Maria and Scott Quintet, a strange phenomenon. Mina was born of two insane parents yet had the mental stability of a sane person though she had the crazy eyes. Unlike her older brother, Caden Quintet, who was born with crazy eyes and was intensely unbalanced and was about four at the time of Mina’s birth. They had lived their lives in the care, being studied by numerous of doctors due to the fact nothing of this sort has ever happened before.

Mina and Caden were very close during their isolated childhood, it seemed Mina was the only one Caden would trust and not go violent around. At the age of 8, Mina was allowed to live outside the care to see how she truly acted around others. She had to accept and live with a family near the care yet she was closely observed. Mina felt terrible for leaving her brother behind but couldn’t do anything but to obey the care.

Now at sixteen years of age, she has the authority to go back to the care and take care of her brother, now twenty. She has short, black hair that curls inward and is quite fit considering her small stature. This goes well with the care doctors so that they can observe Mina better. Unfortunately, the women’s dorms are full and even the special centers areas are not vacant as well. Still too determined to be with her brother she accepts to room with a guy.

Though as she moves in with this so-called average crazy, whom she makes friends with, she uncovers the hidden truths of the Insanity society. Her roommate is a nineteen year old attractive man who calls himself ‘Loyal’. He has long brown hair up to at least his shoulders and was tall and strongly built; as well as the all known crazy, white eyes. Somehow she can confide in him easily and tell of her tragic terms of her brother. At once Loyal knows who her brother is known as at the care. Caden is known as ‘Loki’, known in Norse as a trickster god of evil and fire; so evil he was chained up by the gods. Mina asked why he was called it. Loyal simply said it was because he was in the special’s center of the care because of his constant violence and pyromaniac temptations.

Mina now feels at fault because it was her departure that made him even worse. Loyal tried to cheer her up when suddenly a tall older man around twenty-eight, yet slender and youthful burst through their door. His hair was even longer than Loyal’s and black yet he had the crazy eyes as all insanities contained.

Mina jumped at the sight of this stranger but Loyal remained as if it were nothing. Loyal explained that this man was called Cailin at this moment. She was stumped when he said at the moment. Loyal then explained Cailin’s disorder or rather the true personality of the man; Theo. Theo has lived his whole life in this care and suffers from a multi-personality complex of three different persons, Cailin, Dean, and his true self Theo.

Well Cailin was Theo’s feminine side and was at once friends with Mina as soon as they met. Mina started to tell of her reason of being here when he interrupted her. Then he introduced himself as a different person, Theo. He then put his hair in a ponytail and put on some glasses on from his pocket. He apologized for not knowing who his apparent new friend was. Most certainly Theo, being the first personality, knew he had the disorder and the names of them at the most.

Soon Loyal interrupted and pointed out that ‘Mellow’ wasn’t hear with Theo. Theo then walked out the room and motioned for someone to come. Then a small, frail boy walked into the room. He had blazing, blonde-white wild hair with dead, white eyes about 10 years old was staring at Mina. He wouldn’t stop staring; he was so fascinated in this mysterious girl. He walked over and placed his hands on Mina’s hands still staring at her eyes.

He then said that she was worried about her brother and was scared of this place. She was bewildered at his deduction because it had been true. Loyal then cut in saying that Mellow could read peoples’ feelings. Mina whispered back that he only thinks that he can; he’s just good at reading one’s face. Loyal looked at her somewhat insanely, and told her some people are in here because the sanity outside fear them. Mina agreed because she knew that tragic truth of this world. Loyal then retorted that some fear them because they can do things they can not such as in Mellow’s case, read emotions.

This somewhat troubled Mina at the idea that besides the insanity within one’s mind is actually the ability to be incredible; it’s just that the fear from others keeps them insane.

Mellow then was attached to Mina like she was his big sister. But Mina wanted Mellow’s proper name to call him. He agreed to tell her but she couldn’t call him such; here he was called Mellow. He whispered into her ear so that the other two couldn’t here, ‘Wyatt’. She smiled in agreement to keep the name a secret, so this strengthened their bond.

Mina finds out that both Theo and Mellow were her and Loyals’ neighbors. So now Mellow comes in all the time. But Loyal realizes Mina has not met Dean yet. Theo’s glasses soon slid off after that thought crossed his mind. Until Dean comes out of Theo and goes on a rabid rampage at the sight of Mina, Loyal then tries to hold him back and Dean’s personality leaves after screaming out ‘Fugitive’! This really shakes up Mina, what did he mean by ‘fugitive’.

Days go by and Mina is now back in the rhythm of life at the asylum. She had still not been able to see Caden; so all to do was live life as put for her. One day she was surprising playing hide and seek with the boys excluding the grown up, Theo. She hid under Loyal’s bed; most likely the last place either Loyal or Mellow would be looking. Then a random person, she is unaware of who it is yet, tiptoed into the room and started to open up her dresser. Alert of this intruder she crawled from under the bed and attacked the looter.

The intruder had happened to be a girl who looked almost as old as her. She got off her and looked immediately at this girl’s eyes; they were brown! This girl who was only at least 16 or so, dirty blonde, hip length hair, and looked as normal as the people on the outside of this loony hut!

She was also staring at Mina and then eyed a shiny looking pen insanely. In one swift movement, she grabbed the pen and pivoted on her heels about to storm out the room. But luckily, Loyal was booming over the door, his crazy eyes showing their true purpose. Loyal then started to lecture this strange new girl to Mina. All about how she needs to stop stealing things from him and to leave Mina alone because she’s sane. The girl peered over her shoulder toward Mina to eye her as she did the pen.

Suddenly she was hugging Mina as if she was a long, lost friend. Mina somewhat confused asked who she was and why would she steal a pen. She answered that her name was Estelle Heathers but her nickname around here was Stealth. She explained how she was born with normal, hazel eyes of her mother’s though her father was insane. But they found her mental stability to be off as bad as her insane father who was a psycho rapist. Estelle explained that she was a kleptomaniac. She put it into further detail; it is an irresistible impulse to steal for emotional purposes rather than the need to have it.

Mina was surprised about the fact that everyone she has met had nicknames; she was too used to the fact she was friends with strange people. Loyal stepped in to play and explained that everyone here has a name according to how they act, what they are, or their insanity features.

That would explain the names Mina thought. The multiple names for Theo’s different personalities, Mellow’s unusual calm and emotionless way of being, and Stealth for Estelle because she was an incredible thief! Mina had noticed certain item misplaced around the room; she was good.

Soon Estelle was the only girlfriend to talk to at a girl level since she’s stuck with boys all the time. Estelle visited often and even stayed over at times which didn’t seemed to bother Loyal much.

One day while playing insanity tag; Loyal and Mina decide to team up against Mellow and Estelle and hide together in a supply closet on the opposite side of the dorms. While they were in there the door got locked automatically. Loyal figured it would be hours until the custodians would actually need something from the closet since it was almost curfew for average crazies. And the doubtful possibility anyone would hear them or the others to find them.

Mina found a light and so they waited. They talked forever because one Loyal just loves to hear himself talk and two because they were strangely compatible. They loved the same kind of books, had similar views of their insane life, and they had enjoyed each others company.

Mina liked gazing at Loyal; somewhat she was able to gaze at his insanely white eyes. Unlike her life outside the insanity for eight years she had never looked directly at peoples’ eyes as people never looked at her because she had crazy eyes. That made a possibility of love impossible; along with the fact she was too afraid of people without insanity. Ironically, she is more scared of the Sane than the insanity that made her feel at home. This she told Loyal as well; he felt gracious that he had such a good influence on Mina. Then he smiled that great, big nutty grin that Mina loved so much. Loved. Love?

This finally brought up an unreal, unthinkable question. Did she like Loyal more than a best friend, a roommate, a person to run to when her pitiful life got any worse than it was already? This thought made her insanely nervous now and Loyal could easily tell. Loyal then asked what was wrong because she began to back away from him little by little as he was leaning forward due to the curiosity of the predicament in her mind he had no idea about.

But did she love him? He had been the first person to meet her, treat her as a person, a real person. A place without the insanity or the cares, a place without anyone to tell them they are not people, a place where she always desperately wanted to be at. But love him? Had she had the right hormones for that at all? What if it didn’t work out or he didn’t love her back? What if he did something bad to her? All she knew was their was this seemingly nice, sensitive, funny, attractive, smart, caring, understanding, friendly, comfortable as breathing guy sitting in front of her. But she didn’t even know what his insanity malfunction was. Or even if he had one and was just like her; but then again he would have told her by now right? Could insanity actually be cured? How did he get here in the first place? What is his past like? Family? Friends? Lovers? She wanted to know it all!

Mina then realized that she didn’t even know Loyal’s REAL name. It had been a total mystery since she has been here the last four months. But she was too afraid that the real name would lead to a bad memory for him, or the reason behind the name would be bad to bring up in an inescapable closure. But the question had to come up or she would regret it.

Then after coming out of her thoughts, she felt Loyal now next to her, enough to feel his slight body movement as he breathed. He had one arm around her, gazing at Mina, the horrible shock on his faced pierced Mina deeply. What was wrong with Loyal? She thought again.

He then started to ask a million questions as well to her. Asking if she was alright because she was sweating and looking like she had been freaking out over something; this was the perfect time to ask. He was clearly worked up over her strange laps of questions going through her own mind that this would be its easiest weak point. Mina looked up at Loyal, who had calmed down a bit; he looked utterly confused because Mina was looking at him weird.

Not just weird but the sickly, girl in love look that was somewhat making Mina cute in Loyal’s eyes. She asked what his name was. Loyal giggled somewhat and replied ‘Loyal’ of course. Mina shook her head. What is your REAL name? Loyal then sighed; it seemed he knew this was coming up eventually.

“My name is Kristian Carson.” He looked down to see Mina’s reaction. She just smiled in satisfaction; that’s all she wanted for now. A little at a time, when he’s ready to tell he would right? But he didn’t stop give that disturbed look in his eyes; clearly telling Mina a wonderful name like Kristian wasn’t the last thing he would confess to her tonight.

“You must realize that though I may seem as normal as most weird people; I’m not as sane as I appear.” This was the horrible beginning of a truth that Mina wasn’t sure she had the heart to hear since she just realized she had feelings for him. He continued but was looking away, more upward than anywhere else.

He asked her if she wanted the truth. She nodded, she was determined that whatever horrible thing Loyal or rather Kristian did couldn’t affect how she felt, hopefully. “Well what if I told you; I killed someone or rather several people.” He looked down to see Mina’s horrid face he had expected to see, but it was just slightly sad, nothing he had intended. “But I guess it wouldn’t help that I also love you too. God you must be the most unlucky girl in the world. A murderer is in love with you and that maybe just the first of it.” Mina put her head between her knees; Loyal assumed she was trying to hide her true feelings of the matter. Loyal sighed and removed his arm from around Mina’s shoulder and was about to try and get to the opposite side of the small closet.

But Mina, with her head still in place, grabbed his arm before he could get up and pulled him back down. He looked over her furious; he didn’t want it to be this way. He wanted her to never know about him but she just had to ask and he just couldn’t deny her. Mina started to giggle, softly then into psychotic laughter. Loyal was now just freaked out. What the hell was happening to Mina?

She slowly raised her head, having this absurd look of insanity on her face. Quite scared at this point, Loyal asked if she was okay until she interrupted with a phrase that was a shocker. “I can’t believe I’m in love with a murderer.” She was in tears by then. Loyal was then blushing and laughing as well. This incredible moment had been settled in tears and laughter.

Loyal hugged her close. A warm embrace Mina had been so familiar with since she’s been in this life style once again. She asked what had happened. He explained that back when he was twelve he killed his parents because they had killed his little sister because she had come out insane. Mina was then puzzled. How come nothing happened to Loyal because he was an insanity as well? He sighed again.

He said, “Did you know that the people born with crazy eyes aren’t really crazy from the start?” That question astonished her. He explained how a society within the world governments had created this world to find one thing. Then Loyal stopped. That’s all he knew right now. But he was determined to find out exactly how they were this way and if they could stop it.

But Loyal didn’t want to think about it right at this moment. He wanted to concentrate on Mina who was falling asleep in his arms. “I never asked what I should call you, Kristian” Mina said softly trying to stay awake. He said to call him whatever she wanted. Her last words before she fell asleep were, “I love Loyal”. She was out by then Loyal just smiled and held her closer and did the same.

The sunlight shone through the window waking Mina. Sunlight? In a closet? She was on her bed, alone in her room. Or rather her and Loyal’s room. Soon an attendant of the care walked in to check on me. She said that Mina could finally see Caden.

Everything was happening so fast lately she had forgot the only reason she had come in the first place. The attendant led her to the opposite side of the dorms to the special center for insanity where her brother has been at.
